Mudumu National Park

Mudumu National Park is one of Namibia’s hidden gems, located in the Zambezi Region (formerly Caprivi Strip). Covering approximately 1,000 square kilometers, the park is a lush, riverine wilderness, unlike the arid landscapes typical of Namibia. Mudumu is a critical part of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), connecting wildlife corridors between Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The park is characterized by dense mopane woodlands, seasonal floodplains, and the permanent Kwando River, which serves as a lifeline for wildlife. Unlike many other parks, Mudumu is an unfenced, open-system reserve, allowing animals to move freely between neighboring conservation areas.

Wildlife

Mudumu National Park is home to an impressive array of wildlife, including large herds of elephants, buffalo, and hippos. It is also a prime location to spot predators such as:

  • Sable and roan antelope

The park’s location along the Kwando River makes it an ideal spot for both water-associated birds and woodland species.
